Rejected from Publication: My Cat

Look how adorable:
Biscuit is the current victor of no fewer than 2918 kitten wars. But, alas, not unlike her human (me), she was rejected from publication. Biscuit does not appear in the book, kittenwar: May the Cutest Kitten Win! published by Chronicle Books. News of rejection (rather, utter lack of consideration) recently came by email with the subject line, “Have a Kittenwar Christmas!”, reporting that the book had already been published and was ready for holiday-giving.
Poor Biscuit. Maybe she’ll have better luck slinking across my keyboard and submitting experimental work to literary journals.
Sorry about that. We felt it be easier to send individual e-mails to the owners of the hundred-odd kittens we wanted who featured, rather than the 130,000 we didn’t.
Biscuit is very cute though.
This is heartbreaking. It’s like crushing a child’s dream.
