Party? Fun? Not for You! (Brought to you by Clear Channel)

I’ll certainly be the first party-pooper to grouse about how the likelihood of getting injuriously stabbed has seemed to increase markedly at the annual informal festivities of spending Halloween in the Castro since the late 90’s, but now we have corporate sponsorship in order to not have an event. Meanwhile, nonprofit organizations that fall below the radar of business/corporate charitable giving abound.

Meanwhile, I’ll be on a panel to discuss “Developing Partnerships in the Arts: From Mentoring to Professional Alliances” with the Emerging Leaders Network Creative Conversations occurring throughout the nation on October 25th. The San Francisco location will be at Brava Theater Center, 2781 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.  Discussion from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.  Details to follow.

Debbie — thanks for your posting. But most importantly, thanks for your work with the Emerging Leaders Network and other nonprofits. 80% of our clients are non-profits, so I know what an environment we are currently living in. It’s tough all the way around for nonprofits, like the SFCVB which is working with SF to promote the public safety “home for halloween” campaign. The groups mentioned above — KRON 4 & Clear Channel / Shake — have been very generous in pro bono PSA production and distribution of our message about the Halloween Party Cancellation in the Castro. Both are generous media sponsors of many nonprofit / charity events. Do “pitch” their way! Without such support, many nonprofits will have a challenging time getting their message out to the public.

Best of luck with the Conference! I wish I could be there.

    cheers!
