I Pledge Allegiance…

fairytale-town.jpgThe last time I pledged anything was probably a coffee table.  The time before that, I was probably in an auditorium with hundreds of other bar admittees getting sworn in in one swoop to multiple California courts.  That was more a swear than a pledge, and it was more done in front of several humans (some judges) than an object.  So, not having the life experience of offering oral testimony or trying to join a sorority, the time before that that I pledged anything may have been a flag in a public school classroom in Sacramento.  I’m not there anymore, but, when I do visit, activities I generally partake in include hitting all the Big Box stores in Elk Grove (just south of Sacramento), hanging out with the folks, including, perchance, at Pancake Circus.  And then I get anxious to get back to San Francisco.  But I do get a sensation of curiosity and pride when I happen to discover that something neat, in fact, goes on there.  Afterall, it is still the home of Fairytale Town (photo courtesy of Yahoo! Travel).  Case in point: recent poetry-goings-ons in Sacramento can be found on blogger Kathy Kieth’s site here

The town seems to be sponsoring a “Sacramento in a Word” contest through May 31, 2007 as well.  BE NICE NOW!
