Gocco screen-printed biz cards

This is a recent Gocco printer project.  Gocco is a “toy” tabletop silkscreen printing machine capable of printing up to about a 3.5″ x 5.5″ area in multiple ink colors on a single screen, unlike the traditional silkscreening process.  It is an extremely nifty item to have.  The raw materials for 100 business/calling cards:

  • pearl blue ink (discontinued!) manufactured by Gocco’s maker, Riso
  • also, bronze metallic ink (discontinued!) and gold metallic ink
  • cardstock in chocolate from Paper Source

bizcards3.gifI purchased the pre-scored placecard-sized card stock (comes in packages of 50) and cut them down 2 to a sheet.  Paper Source also sells pre-cut business-card sized paper as well, but I found the pricing on the placecards to be more economical.  Full 8.5″ x 11″ sheets are available, but that would entail way too much manual cutting for the crafter.

Unfortunately, the word is that the Japanese manufacturer is discontinuing production of these printing units, despite their having gained popularity in the U.S., especially in crafters’ circles.  An article regarding the potential sad demise of the Gocco printer appears in the first issue of Craft: transforming traditional crafts magazine here.

    Hi Debbie,

Your website has so many layers and fun little places to explore…a whole universe unto itself….I find it kind of relaxing actually to visit your site and peruse its offerings, expecially when at work - though some of it goes over my head - you know me.

    love,
    Jenny
